Catalysis for water treatment

In order to address concerns with clean water, more effective utilisation of water systems, and the use of water as a reaction medium or reagent, catalysis is a crucial foundation technology. It is acknowledged that water is a top issue for both the government and the Research Councils. Due to its high activity and higher selectivity compared to traditional technology, which results in products that are either non-toxic or significantly less hazardous, the treatment of water pollutants by heterogeneously catalysed reduction reaction is a topic of considerable interest. Examines the use of catalytic reduction as a progressive method to eliminate several kinds of water pollutants, including hydrodehalogenation for wastewater treatment and hydrogenation of nitrate/nitrite for groundwater remediation.
