A chemical compound is created when two or more atoms, molecules, or ions establish a chemical link, which is referred to as chemical bonding. The resultant compound's atoms are held together by these chemical bonds. An enduring attraction between atoms, ions, or molecules known as a chemical bond is what allows molecules to form. The bond may be created by the sharing of electrons in covalent bonds or by the electrostatic interaction between ions that have opposing charges. Chemical bonds can be classified as "strong ties" or "primary bonds" like covalent, ionic, and metallic bonds or "weak bonds" or "secondary bonds" like hydrogen bonding, dipole-dipole interactions, and the London dispersion force. Because dipolar charges attract, the interaction between the positively charged protons in the nucleus and the negatively charged electrons circling the nucleus creates a straightforward electromagnetic force. An electron sandwiched between two nuclei will be drawn to both of them, and the nuclei will also be drawn to the electrons in this location. The chemical bond is made up of this attraction. The lesser mass and matter wave nature of electrons force them to occupy a significantly wider volume than atomic nuclei, which maintains the atomic nuclei in a bond relatively widely apart.
